Customer Testimonial
Peter and Rachael Macdonald with their Premium Arena Groomer | Arena Surfaces New Zealand
For Arena Surfaces New Zealand Ltd, arena maintenance is part of the day-to-day work. The Whanganui-based business works with horse arenas throughout New Zealand, including grooming and ongoing surface maintenance.
Peter Macdonald has had plenty of experience with different ways of tackling that work. Through the business, he has used a range of arena groomers available in New Zealand and even attempted to build one himself.
When Arena Surfaces NZ wanted a machine they could demonstrate to customers and that was readily available on the New Zealand market, they turned to REDBACK. The REDBACK Premium Arena Groomer (PAG) has now been part of their work for over 12 months.
It’s been the best thing that we’ve done for our business.

One machine, a range of arena surfaces
Arena Surfaces NZ works across a wide range of arena surfaces throughout New Zealand. The REDBACK Premium Arena Groomer has been used across nearly every arena the team has worked on, including fibre, sand and sand/rubber surfaces.
The PAG combines conditioning tines with an adjustable roller, while optional features such as the equaliser bar and packer bars allow the finish to be tailored to the arena. The conditioning tines provide the agitation needed to work the surface, the equaliser bar can level it out, and the roller packer firms the surface back down to leave it ready to ride.
Built for the work
Having several functions in one machine provides flexibility across different arena maintenance jobs.
The PAG can be towed behind ATVs and quads, and its removable drawbar allows it to be used with a tractor’s three-point linkage. The height adjustment also allows the tine depth to be set to suit the surface. For arena owners, that means one machine can be adjusted to suit different surfaces, maintenance requirements and available towing equipment.
REDBACK support
Choosing the right equipment is one part of maintaining an arena. Having support behind that equipment when you need it is another.
The REDBACK Premium Arena Groomer is made in New Zealand and backed by a 24-month warranty.
They’re always at the end of the phone during business hours. They’re very knowledgeable, all of the staff.
